Note 01

The competition asked for a school that would feel less like an institution and more like a neighbourhood. We answered by refusing to design a building.

Note 02

Twelve classrooms sit as discrete pavilions along a single covered spine that runs parallel to the river. Each pavilion has its own pitched roof, its own front door, its own outdoor threshold. The spine is the school; the pavilions are houses.

Note 03

Construction is glulam and CLT throughout. The spine doubles as the gymnasium during winter and as covered play during shoulder seasons. There are no interior corridors.
